About the Author
Irving Chernev is one of the best beginning chess book writers of all time. In his clear and passionate language Chernev was able to get masses of people excited about chess with texts like “Logical Chess”, one of the all time greatest beginning texts.
Chernev decided to stop playing chess later in his life, choosing to enjoy chess as an observer and a writer. He never achieved the level of chess playing greatness of his buddy Fred Reinfield, and did not write as many books, but still established himself as one of the greatest chess writers of all time.
Chernev will most remembered for his enthusiasm for chess, which shone so bright, it blasted through the pages of his writing.
