What payment methods do you accept?
We accept PayPal and all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) processed securely through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by card.
Is it safe to order on Chess River?
Yes. Our site uses SSL encryption (the padlock in your browser’s address bar), and all payments are processed securely through PayPal. We never store your full payment details.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Contact us as soon as possible at support@chessriver.com. If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we can usually make changes or cancel it. Once shipped, the standard return process applies.
Shipping
Do you ship outside the United States?
Currently we ship to US addresses only, including Alaska, Hawaii, and US territories.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship within 1 business day, and always within 2 business days. After that, delivery times vary depending on your destination and the carrier used, but most orders arrive within 3-7 business days. You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information once your order ships.
Do you offer expedited shipping?
Yes. We offer Priority Shipping at checkout for a faster option, for an additional fee.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated automatically at checkout based on your order. We offer a standard option and a faster Priority option. Orders over $75 ship free.
Products
Are your books new?
Yes, all books sold on Chess River are brand new unless specifically listed otherwise.
I’m looking for a specific title â can you help?
Absolutely. Email us at support@chessriver.com with the title and author, and we’ll let you know if we can source it.
What’s the difference between the “Software” and “Books” categories?
Books are physical printed copies. Software products are chess programs on physical CDs or DVDs. Everything we sell ships as a physical item.
Do you sell e-books?
No â we currently sell physical books only.
Returns & Issues
What if my book arrives damaged?
Email us at support@chessriver.com within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the damage. We’ll send a replacement or issue a full refund â no need to return the damaged item.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for unused items in original condition. See our full Return & Refund Policy page for details.
I haven’t received my order – what should I do?
Check your tracking number first (sent in your shipping confirmation email). If your tracking shows delivered but you haven’t received it, or if it’s been more than 10 business days with no update, email us at support@chessriver.com and we’ll investigate.

Do I need an account to order?
No. You can check out as a guest. Creating an account lets you view your order history and saves your shipping details for future orders.
