The second volume of Tibor Karolyi’s survey of the tenth world champion, published by Quality Chess in 2025. Hardcover, 408 pages, with a preface and a publisher’s foreword.

This volume picks up in 1969, the year after Spassky won the title, and runs year by year through 2002, with a closing section covering 2003 to 2025. The chronological arrangement tracks the career as it actually went: the championship years and the 1972 match, the long tail of tournament play through the 1970s and 1980s, and the sparser later events, each year given the space its games warrant. An epilogue for the volume, a game index and a name index close the book.

Best for: readers following a champion’s career through annotated games. Any level.
