The book is deliberately narrow. Volume 1 covers the two pieces in direct combat, with the heavier pieces off the board, and is split into just two long chapters, one on positions where the bishop is superior and one where the knight is. Zlatanovic’s argument is that the familiar rule, bishops for open positions and knights for blocked ones, hides more than it explains, and that the pawn structure has to be read early because the opening choice already commits you to an ending. An index of games closes the book.
Best for: club and tournament players serious about endgames. Intermediate to advanced.
